The students of IIT Delhi have started a unique organisation called V.I.S.V.A.S to create a better education system. Read on to find out more about it.
V.I.S.V.A.S. (Visionary Initiative to Sculpt a Virtuous Academic System) is a voluntary, non-profit, non-political organisation with an aim to create globally competitive education systems. The activities of the organisation are governed by the three basic principles: Inspire - Facilitate -Create.
Founded in 2007 at IIT Delhi, the members of this organisation have spent last the year bringing together a group of like-minded students from IIT Delhi and generating ideas on how to create better academic systems and implement them in the Indian context.
ACTIVITIES of V.I.S.V.A.S: IIT Delhi: V.I.S.V.A.S. is best known for two things at IIT Delhi:
Reading room & library initiative (Awarded and recognised by IIT Delhi Alumni Association)
Online Exam archive (database of previous years' papers)
Besides this, regular meetings and interaction sessions are also held. A panel discussion was held last October on the role of students in bringing about a positive change. A dynamic course of introduction is also being developed.
For the next year, an on-campus entrepreneurship challenge, Dayitva, is being planned to give a hands-on experience to students for implementing their ideas.
Delhi University: V.I.S.V.A.S. is implementing 'Droabe' at three colleges of Delhi University – Shri Ram College of Commerce, Lady Shri Ram College & Lakshmibai College.

web portal is accessible over Internet and is provided to educational institutes without any service charge.
All the three colleges have also shown interest in opening a local V.I.S.V.A.S. chapter and promoting other activities in the college.
Besides this, a seminar series called Samvaad is being envisaged for increasing awareness amongst students and enabling them to exercise an informed choice (tentatively planned for Nov 2009).
