Where: K C College of Engineering, Mumbai

K. C. College of Engineering, Thane, celebrated its college techno-cultural festival called 'Reflexionz with great pomp. This is the only festival that has its own mascot called 'ditto'. The first day started with the robot events and ended with the fashion show won by NIFT, Mumbai. Other interesting events included Mock press conference and Virtual stock market.

The second day was a mixture of creative and tech events. Hair styling, dance competition and brain teasers were among the events that received great enthusiasm. The third day was an array of fun, as it started with journalism and t-shirt designing and ended with the ever-favorite rock band competition.
Rock bands like 'Workshop', 'Metakix', 'Moksha Vizia' were among the participants. The 4th day was dedicated to events like photography and 1 minute to fame.

Amity's intra-college fest could be the next Mood-I, reports Sweta Bisht

Ranniti, the festival of Amity Global Business School was held on 16th and 17th April at its Mumbai campus in Malad. The intra-college festival was an event to offer junior and senior students a chance to communicate.

Shoaib Alim, member of the committee says, ‘Some of the members, including me, formed ‘Ranniti’ and submitted the report to the faculty. The proposal stated that the intra-college fest would be held among six teams. They would take part a series of competitions, covering all aspects of management such as, Biz Quiz, Ad making and Movie Making, Biz Keydas, Mock Stock, Biz Plan and other management games to test each group and to examine their potential. However, each team has to also cover different aspects of management such as organising, delegation, PR, Marketing, Branding, and Promotion etc.

‘Ranniti’ would bring out the skills in each and every student in Amity, increase interaction and give everyone a chance to practically experience business in its true form.

TEAM 1
Yodhas headed by Siddarth Gupta

Team aim: To learn from opportunities and to excel as we do.

Committee Speaks: Siddarth has a strong personality. Our faculty thought that he was quite popular and would make a strong leader. He would be the perfect candidate to portray his leadership skills.
Warrior’s words: Ranniti is one hell of a ride. My team members and I haven’t slept for over 3-4 days; we are constantly working round the clock, thinking of ways to promote our team, branding, marketing and excelling in all the events at hand.
I believe we are the best team. We are unified and organised, we have absolutely NO competition. If we have to worry about anyone, it has to be the ‘Aryans’, as they perform really well in all our events. Also, ‘Eklavyas’ PR strategy is commendable. However, we are Numero Uno!
Hemang Mewada, member of Yodhas tells us how they carved and constructed their banner from wood. They combined creative and carpentry skills; to build their logo- a polished, well-crafted, bronze coloured wooden stand that reads ‘Yodhas’.
‘No one else came up with the idea of doing something as creative as ours! Ours is plain work of art and it will be remembered by all -that is most important. The fest will get over, but everyone will remember that the Yodhas had created their banner which had caught everyone’s attention. Being a part of this fest has taught everyone in the team how to work in a group, organise, delegate, handle conflicts and carry out tasks. It is understood by all, we are the best.’

TEAM 2: Shauryas headed by Chintan Vasani
Team Aim: You’re a Shaurya and you ought to prove it.

Committee Speaks: Chintan is street smart. He is that piece of the puzzle, without which it is not entirely complete. Everyone loves to hate Chintan, he knows he’s smart and he believes in proving it to people. Everyone enjoys the show!
Warrior’s words: This fest is amazing! I have never felt such an adrenaline rush. We truly are what ‘Shauryas’ are all about. We have performed really well and everyone around is envious. Our strategy of ‘Smart Branding’ has got us most recognition.
Chintan tells us about how members, who aren’t a part of any team, were open to join the Shauryas. ‘Our team comprises of more juniors, than seniors because I believe that juniors have more enthusiasm when it comes to fests and by allowing anyone else who wasn’t a part of the teams we have introduced to the team more creativity, loads of ideas, and more ways to win.’
I wouldn’t say that we don’t have competition at all; the Kshatriyas should be appreciated for their amazing work on their wall space and the Eklavyas were clever with their lemonade strategy. The Shauryas, created canteen Coupons, these would have to be purchased in order to have snacks and beverages.
‘This idea was the best idea we have come out with. Everyone in Shaurya would have coupons but people who didn’t belong, would ultimately purchase it. As I mentioned earlier, ‘Smart Branding’, we market our team as ourselves. Our team members are equally smart and creative; our comebacks are bigger and harder. Our team is absolutely kickass.’

Team three: Kshatriyas headed by Abhishek Desai

Team Aim: Make most out of opportunities at hand.

Committee Speaks: Abhishek is a prankster; you could call him the ‘Rancho’. He has so much energy and at the same time he has potential.
Warrior’s words: “We are right now probably in the third position. Our team members comprise of both juniors and seniors, we are very open to new ideas and methods to carry out activities. As of now I would say that the Yodhas are one of our main competitors, their wooden logo was ‘Mind-blowing’ and the Shauryas are like wolves, cunning and smart. I feel that by the end of this fest we are pretty much going to stand 2nd or 3rd.”
Upon asking how the experience has been, Abhishek replies, “I haven’t slept for over 3-4 days! This is such an amazing experience, it has taught us how to manage and market well, how to interact with each other etc. I think interaction has benefited everyone of the team members. Our juniors are capable of doing much more than expected and we are enjoying every minute of Ranniti.”
The Shauryas were commended for their work on their wall space. “We had a brainstorming session where everyone just threw these weird but smart ideas, a totally ‘out of the box’ thing and we all just summarised it and put it out on our space. Our fonts for the wall were created by us and even the glass used on it was a product of our brainstorming session. I do believe that everyone regards us as a strong player and I agree.”

Team four: Eklavyas headed by Khadija Siddiqui

Team Aim: You are your own competitor.

Committee Speaks: Khadija has an amazing rapport with everyone, she is outspoken. She is the perfect beauty with brains.
Warrior’s Words: We are the most organised and the most disciplined team anyone has ever seen. Anything that has to be carried out is done with utmost discipline. We have a mix of both juniors and seniors and we are well known for our creativity. Nerds and creative people are the best combination! We are truly the best team. Our video on the opening ceremony was appreciated by all team members and our PR strategy was top-notch.’
What do they think about Shauryas Canteen coupons?
“That was an excellent idea, but we counter attacked them with ‘Free lemonade’. All team members as well those who belonged to other teams were having free lemonade! Other teams just handed over pamphlets and logos, we totally nailed it!”
The Eklavyas don’t believe in any competition.
“We as a team have set standards and we are just trying to achieve them. We don’t regard anyone else stronger than ourselves. We are a group of creative, hardworking people who feel that competition comes within and not around, a type-A personality to be exact.”

Team five: Aryans headed by Sana Pardiwalla

Team Aim: Learn through experience

Committee Speaks: Sana has a lot of authority although she is a midget. She is energetic and knows how to channel her work. She would make an amazing team leader.

Warrior’s Words: Drishty Tanwar speaks on behalf of her warrior saying that their team members are an odd mix of both juniors as well as seniors, some are good at editing, others at conceptualising ideas and the rest are all rounders. “We have just bagged the first position in the quiz and yes, we do see ourselves as the winners in this fest.”
Yodhas feel that there was no competition, Drishty replies, “Really? I feel that we have done much better than them at events. We were initially being pressurised but we have met all expectations fairly. We came out with amazing ideas such as real-life battlefield and posters in canteen.
Our team has really shown dedication in work, we haven’t slept for nights; sometimes we are just crashing, thinking of new ways to promote and carry out other activities. I’m pretty confident that we will stand first by the end of the fest. I should also point out that everyone in the team works wholeheartedly, we listen to our team leader and carry out orders. She is the first leader who is from BBA, so that truly shows that women can be strong leaders.”

Team six: Dronas headed by Vimala Nair

Team Aim: Fun on the run!

Committee Speaks: Vimala is Smart and studious. The faculty definitely wanted to test her potential.
Warrior’s words: Ajay Singh speaks on behalf of his warrior “Our main aim is to focus on things that will really put us up to the mark. Right now, I think we stand 3rd or 4th. We are a focused group. Promotion and other activities weren’t carried out as effectively as other groups but trust me we have bagged positions at our events. I would say that the ‘Yodhas’ are our main competition. They have a very good support from their sponsor’s and ‘Eklavya’ is also very competitive.”
When we asked them their strengths, Ajay replies, “We have a group of people who are very intellectual. Our team is a mix of juniors and seniors. We concentrate more on events, because ultimately that is what counts. Our business plan however, will be one of the best they have seen. I believe that we might stand at least 3rd or 4th by the end of this fest.”

Shoaib Alim says that he appreciates the creativity portrayed by the Aryans, the energy by the Yodhas, Kshatriyas’ uniqueness, Shauryas’ publicity, Eklavyas’ organisation and the dedication of Dronas.

Ranniti has instilled a lot of enthusiasm among the students of Amity and continues to do so for the upcoming years. Given a little more attention, it could be the next big college fest.
