The Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS), Mumbai recently concluded its Inter B-School and Corporate festival. Prayaag was held from 23rd to 25th Oct 2009.
Prayaag is a fest that brings forth the expertise and talent of some of the best minds of the corporate and student world of today. And the festival edition of the fest did just that.
Designed around the theme “Mine your Fortune”, the fest was aimed at highlighting the importance of facing challenges and overcoming them to make one's way to success in these global times.
The event was inaugurated at the K. S. Basu auditorium by Umesh Shrikhande, CEO Contract Advertising. . Shrikhande, an alumnus of JBIMS, spoke to the students about analysing and choosing the right options in life, while keeping long term goals in focus.
A major highlight this time round was the curtain raiser lecture by ad filmmaker, Prahlad Kakkar. The Ad Guru touched on the subjects of prioritising and the art of risk taking.
This year, the fest saw several innovative events, including From Dealers to Leaders -- a test of one's risk appetite and decision making abilities, Fund of Funds - an online simulation of real life trading, Jewelhouse Rock - a treasure hunt, Search for the Emerald -- making marketing plans, The Road to El Dorado -- search for the best business brain, The Village -- glimpse into commodity trading, Talk the Walk -- exploring viral marketing.
Kwizkraft, the signature event of Prayaag, in association with Union Bank of India, the chief festival partner, was held on the final day of the festival. As per tradition, students participated in large numbers. “The response for Kwizkraft was overwhelming like it has been over the years. The rewards, however, were much greater, amounting to almost Rs. 1 lakh,” said Ms Ami Kothari of Team Prayaag.
Various on-the-spot events and fun games made for interesting add-ons this season.
Through the years all the events have seen tremendous participation from B-schools in Mumbai and outside as well as the corporate world. This year Prayaag saw a footfall of about 3,500 student and corporate entries. The students included those from premium institutes like NITIE, NMIMS, XLRI, IIMs, IITs, among others.
“Prayaag'09 has been a great success and been instrumental in bringing to the fore different ideas and perspectives in the various facets of management education”, signed off Ms. Anita Shanbhag, the faculty coordinator of Team Prayaag.
