This cozy joint located on a slopey lane of Pali Hill has already beat most suburban cafes to the best chilled out atmospshere. The ambience accounts for most of your experience, and the Zenzi restaurant and bar owners have got it right once again with the 4-month old Bagel Shop.

17-year old Raffael, one of the owner's son who works there says, "We even allow people to bring their pet dogs inside. We see a lot of people walking their dogs on Pali Hill, so we thought why not bring them in to?!" And that's just the beginning of this chilled out story...

Matan, one of the 3 owners, lived in New York, where he enjoyed eating bagels for breakfast. But, When he moved to Mumbai, he realized that there were few places that served good breakfast. That's how Bagel Shop was founded. It serves healthy, low-fat, vegetarian and non-vegetarian bagels, muffins, cookies, juices, shakes, soya shakes, which you can enjoy over a game of Scrabble! Going in there, is like stepping out of your own house and going to someone else's house; a better, more well-designed house! The place is designed to make it look like a home, with it's kitchen, verandah and living room dividers. And the orange cushioned cane armchairs are just too difficult to get out of once you plop yourself on them! They play a mix of global, fusion, lounge and psychedelic trance - perfect to complete the feel of the place.

Try the Mozarella Bagel...

(Rs. 135), Cream Cheese Bagel (Rs. 125) and the Grilled Vegetable Bagel (Rs. 135). The Chocolate Milkshake (Rs. 65) is absolutely divine, the best I have had till now! The only downside - it's a little pricey, but the service is great, and they won't pester you constantly to order something; It's definitely worth that extra buck once in a while. A creamy bagel with some Scrabble is apt for a lazy and damp rainy day!
