Filmi. That's the word that comes to your mind while watching this movie. Filled with corny characterisations and sequences, it has everything you must have seen in some or the other American teen flick. Like the main lead Sam Montgomery (Hillary Duff) who is an all American sweetheart but not with the 'popular' crowd. She and her geeky best friend are the butt of jokes for a trio of bitchy cheerleaders. There's also Austin Ames (Chad Michael Murray), the star of the foot ball team and the star of Sam's dreams whose girlfriend is none other than the leader of the bitchy trio. Of course, Cinderella's story's wouldn't be complete without a wicked step mother Fiona (Jennifer Coolidge) and a couple of wicked step sisters.
The princess works at a diner, studies hard to get admission at Princeton and chats with her prince through text messages. The night when the SMS pals come face to face (at a Halloween Party!), they have a romantic dance and then the clock.. er... cell phone alarm strikes 12, and in her hurry, Sam leaves behind her phone.
The performances by all the actors are good but the movie is riddled with cliches and lacks the humour and energy of an American Pie or Clueless. Go for it only if you can't get to sleep and need to watch a bed time story.
