It feels nice when Indian film makers try to do something different. But it feels a lot worse when their effort falls flat.
What was director Soham thinking while making this film? Any person with even an average IQ could've told him what he was doing wrong. He has taken all the cliches of an average Hollywood thriller, added a few tigers to the mix and churned out Kaal. So you have this group of four friends including Dev (Vivek Oberoi) and his girlfriend Ishika (Lara Dutta) who wanna go to Orbit National park for a hunting adventure. On the way they meet Krish (John Abraham) and his wife Riya (Esha Deol) who are there for research work. But beware, for there's a predator out there! A beast or a human being or a ghost, nobody knows. So one by one the characters of the movie get bumped off till there are nothing but dead bodies and scary noises left in the story.
Good technicians, a few thrilling moments and a great background score don't make a good thriller. The first few minutes of the movie make you feel like you're watching a Hollywood flick. But that's that. The director makes such desperate efforts to scare you that you can predict the next scary scene. The only good thing about the movie is the special appearance by the tigers who act better than the lead actors.
