Imagine this: flashy cars, cute kids, New York cabbies and animated teddy bears, all in one movie from the Yash Raj camp. It’s just too much to comprehend in two hours, forty-five minutes. The flick is a desperate attempt at striking a balance between an action packed thriller and a riches-to-rags-to-riches story.
Rajveer Singh (Saif Ali Khan) is a New Yorker who drives really fast. He gets discovered while speeding a cab. The guy in the cab, Hariprasad Patel/ Harry (Javed Jafrey) happens to be the manager of ‘Speeding Saddles’, a racing team on a fantastic losing spree. He bumps into (quite literally) Radhika Shekhar Rai Banerjee (Rani), the daughter of a New York hotshot. Love happens. The father disapproves. The couple elopes, has two kids (Princess and Champ), who then adopt a dog (Bruno).
Radhika as RV’s (yeah that’s Saif’s racer name) wife / lucky charm needs more make up. Saif looks good though, acts like only he can. The two kids are cute. Javed, let's just say that it’s not his best movie.
The race sequences are almost a saving grace. The only letdown here is that they ignore the basic laws of physics . Like, when two cars collide they should slow down, or friction reduces speed. The title track is also fun to look at, although irritating to listen to. The teddy bears in a fantasy world sequence is well executed.
