Ashwin, me and Anupam went to watch this movie. It was my idea and after the movie, I was very sure that me would be killed.
The subject is good because it's inspired by a Hollywood movie- The First Fifty Dates. However, the story has been changed to make it Bollywood. The entire movie is in a flashback. Ajay (Ajay Devgan- who is holidaying with his friends) meets Piya( Kajol- a waitress) on a cruise followed by love at first sight, followed by horrible song ( with lyrics like 'dil apna khunte pe taang de'), followed by patana, then manana and then shaadi. This is the first half and is so distastefully done that muting it would be better. The camera angles are so tight that you can count the blackheads on Ajay Devgan's nose and the layers of makeup on Kajol. The dialogues are sad and the clothes are bad.
The second half reveals that Kajol is suffering from a disease called alzheimers. In this disease, one could have permanent or temporary memory loss depending on the requirement of the script. The movie then goes ahead and shows how a caring husband deals with a problem like this and finally what wins is love and dedication. A lot of emotions, rona-dhona, bad songs, some stupid jokes, marital advise has been thrown in.
Undoubtedly, Kajol and Ajay have acted well but it would be good if Ajay Devgan suffers from alzheimers and forgets he made this movie. A good attempt wasted in an...
effort to put every hindi masala mantra in one film.
I overheard a little girl say to her dad ' but I didn't understand the movie'. How lucky is that!
