Bandish, live in Delhi... Post comments | View comments

Torquoise cottage was the place to be on 27th June '06 as Bandish, the new rock-pop band launched their debut, aptly titled Kaise Kahoon. The launch had mediamen from all TV channels and newspapers, and also had the likes of Rahul Ram from Indian Ocean as the guest of honor. Amaan and Ayaan Ali Bangash, the santoor maestros were the guests of honor. The venue was abuzz with people and hardly a vantage point was left vacant. So much so that there was no space left to move around in the congested surroundings.

The night started fashionably late, just by a small matter of half an hour, and the opening saw a screening of the album's first track Goonj. The picturesque video is shot in Jaisalmer on the Indo- Pak border. And the lyrics are vibrant with love and energy, the video matches it step for step. And then after a mini photo session, the band took the stage to a lukewarm applause, more so because the junta was busy digging into the snacks and sipping the cocktails. The band played Goonj, and Kaise Kahoon, and Tum Hi Tum which reaffirmed the band's quality as musicians who have a craving to play live. The band later on did a encore with covers of U2 and Bon Jovi. In my advice the band should stick to the originals.
